Supermodel and television producer Heidi Klum sold her gated estate in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood for $24 million in an all-cash deal that closed in 29 days.
The Italian-style mansion was built in 1999, more than a decade before the occasional actress and serial home remodeler bought it in 2010 with her then-husband, R&B singer Seal, for $14.2 million.
The 12,300 square feet of living space, renovated by Klum to model-home perfection, was fitted with such one-of-a-kind features as a domed library with a massive bookcase from Napoleon’s country retreat in France.
There are living, family and dining rooms, a butler’s pantry, a den, an office, a projection room, a temperature-controlled wine room, eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. French doors throughout the house open to patios and terraces.
Rose gardens, lawns, a koi pond, hiking trails and an infinity-edge swimming pool and spa make up the 8.5 acres of grounds. Views include the ocean, nearby canyons and cityscape.
Klum, 41, won an Emmy for hosting Project Runway, of which she is also executive producer. The America’s Got Talent judge has also been on Germany’s Next Topmodel.
When the property went up for sale, listing agent Lynn Teschner of the Agency was deluged with inquiries from around the world, particularly from Germany, where Klum has a large fan base. The mansion was in escrow in four days.
RED HOT DRUMMER BUYS IN VENICE
Drummer Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers has snared a new pad in Venice for $2.755 million.
The boxy contemporary, a project of Wylan/James Development, makes the most of the long narrow lot with 25-foot ceilings in the dining room and 11-foot ceilings throughout the rest of the house. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls open to take in the ocean breeze as well as natural light.
Reclaimed wood wraps around a fireplace that serves as a partition between the living and dining rooms. Some 2,800 square feet of living space includes a den/office, three upstairs bedrooms and four bathrooms — plenty of room for congas and cowbells.
The yard has a fire pit.
Smith, 52, is considered one of rock’s top drummers. Besides the Chili Peppers, he plays with Chickenfoot and his Chad Smith’s Bombastic Meatbats. He has recorded with Kid Rock, Johnny Cash and John Fogerty, among others.
Smith also owns a home in Malibu.
IT’S A WRAP IN LOS FELIZ
Megan Fox of Transformers film fame and Brian Austin Green of Anger Management sold their home in L.A.’s Los Feliz neighborhood for $3.75 million.
The remodeled Mediterranean, built in 1936, includes such updates as camera surveillance and a sound system.
A formal entry, a family room, a home theater, a library/study, a media room, an office, four bedrooms and five bathrooms are contained within the 5,385 square feet of living space. Floor-to-ceiling French doors open to covered patio areas.
The walled one-third-acre lot has a swimming pool. There are panoramic views of the city and ocean.
Fox, 28, stars in the summer action comedy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The model/actress was on the series Hope & Faith from 2004-06.
Green, 40, played David Silver on Beverly Hills, 90210 from 1990-2000. The actor/rapper will star in the horror film Don’t Blink, set for September release.
Fox bought the property the year before the couple’s 2010 wedding for $2.943 million, public records show.
The pair recently bought a home in the Toluca Lake neighborhood for $3.35 million that was once the carriage house of the Bing Crosby estate.
TWO KITCHENS AT JENNY CRAIG’S
News of Jenny Craig’s oceanfront home in Del Mar being for sale made a media splash recently, but, in fact, the estate north of San Diego has been available since February.
Priced at a weighty $39.5 million, the property last sold in 1986 for $3.25 million, public records show.
Perhaps ironically, the weight-loss guru’s home has two kitchens.
Also within the 8,000 square feet of living space are five bedrooms, 6.5 baths and a media room. There are separate guest quarters and a four-car garage. The three-quarter-acre site has a gated driveway and room for parking an additional 20 cars.
Outdoor entertainment areas include a swimming pool, a spa and a large patio stretching along the 80 feet of sandy beach.
Craig, 81, founded the weight-loss company bearing her name in the early 1980s. The company, which has more than 700 locations worldwide, is now part of Nestle Nutrition.
LATE ROCKER’S HOME FOR SALE
The oceanfront home of the late rock ’n’ roll lyricist Jerry Leiber is on the market in Venice at $10.85 million.
If his name doesn’t ring a bell, the song titles Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock and Yakety Yak likely will.
Leiber, who died in 2011 at 78, partnered with composer Mike Stoller as songwriters and record producers. They worked with Elvis Presley, the Coasters and the Drifters, among others, and won Grammys for Is That All There Is? and the Smokey Joe’s Cafe album.
The Craftsman-style house Leiber owned was built in 1935 and sits on a corner lot along the sand. A great room, a living room with a fireplace, three bedrooms and eight bathrooms are within the 4,034 square feet of living space.
The third floor contains a large lounge/creative office space with skylights and opens to a roof deck.
