Hold a dumbbell or kettlebell in one arm as you stand with your legs shoulder-width apart.
The squat, one of the most complete exercises around, is taken up a notch in this version. The single arm dumbbell squat requires much more body control and further stresses the muscles of the legs and core.
Hold a dumbbell or kettlebell in one arm as you stand with your legs shoulder-width apart.
Inhale as you drop your hips back as if you were going to sit on a chair until your thighs are almost parallel to the floor (engage your core muscles for added stability). Exhale as you slowly return to the starting position. Repeat 10 to 15 reps for three sets.
Key points: Keep your back straight and core engaged throughout the entire movement.
