Cocina Recipe: Figs with Serrano Ham (Higos con Jamón Serrano)
From Maricel E. Presilla's Cocina
APPETIZER
FIGS WITH SERRANO HAM (Higos con Jamón Serrano; above)
Salty, nutty serrano ham is an ideal pairing for sweet, ripe figs. Just place a slice or two over fig halves and serve as a light appetizer with a glass of chilled amontillado sherry.
12 large black or green figs (about 2 ounces each)
2 ounces serrano ham or prosciutto, sliced 1/8-inch thick
Rinse the figs under cold running water and pat dry. With a sharp knife, cut in half lengthwise. Cut the ham into 3-inch by 2-inch sections and place over the cut side of the fig. Arrange on a decorative platter. Makes 6 servings.
