HALLOWEEN APPETIZER
Do the monster mash
You'll want to put out knives for serving to avoid double dipping, but this adorable Cheesenstein spread, from Taste of Home magazine, is sure to scare up compliments at your Halloween party. Beat 2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce until smooth.
Stir in 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese, 6 fried and crumbled bacon strips and 3 thinly sliced green onions.
Shape into a 5-by-4-by-3-inch block.
Wrap in plastic and refrigerate until chilled.
Unwrap the chilled block and set it on the plate with one of the 3-inch sides on top.
Mix moss-green paste food coloring (or equal parts yellow and green liquid coloring) into 2 (4-ounce) cartons whipped cream cheese; spread over block.
Form features using chopped ripe olives for hair, pepperoncinis for ears, a halved colossal olive and 2 parsnip slices for eyes and a cucumber end for the nose.
Pipe on black decorating gel to form the brow, mouth and stitches.
Break a pretzel rod in half, add a colossal olive to each end and press into sides of head for bolts.
Serve with fresh vegetables or crackers. Makes 12 servings.
