Cook's Corner Recipe: Crema De Leche

From Linda Cicero's Cook's Corner

CANDY

CREMA DE LECHE

• 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

• Equal volume of white sugar (use can to measure)

• Equal volume of regular milk (use can to measure)

Cook all the ingredients in a saucepan over low heat until thickened, stirring often. (This took about 30 minutes on a gas burner at its lowest setting. Check for doneness by putting a teaspoonful on a saucer to cool; if it will roll, it's done.) Pour mixture into a foil- or wax-paper-lined 8-inch-square pan and let it cool. Cut into 1-inch squares. Makes 64 pieces.
