No ordinary polo
Visionaire, the limited-edition art magazine that throws one of the most coveted Art Basel parties in town, isn't going mass market just yet.
But it is partnering with Lacoste for its latest edition, a book containing polo shirts with images designed by such notables as photographer Nick Knight, designer Karl Lagerfeld, filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar and musician David Byrne.
There will be 4,000 numbered editions available, at $250 a set, which includes three polos in various sizes. Find them, starting in September, at VisionaireWorld.com.
And happy 75th anniversary, Lacoste.
Timepieces for a time
Nixon is offering its fifth collection of original watches created by musicians, and this round includes doodlings on maplewood by the likes of Ringo Starr, Jack Black, Lynyrd Skynyrd and others.
Each musician contributes enough material for the Southern California company to offer up to seven original watches. All proceeds benefit the Tony Hawk Foundation (for needy children) and MusiCares MAP Fund (for musicians needing detox).
The watches cost up to $1,500 and hit stores this week. The one pictured here is by Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy fame, $750, at Barneys New York Co-op, 832 Collins Ave., Miami Beach.
Target hits it
If a $675 Botkier Snake-Embossed Satchel at Neiman Marcus isn't on your Must-Buy list, but a Botkier bag is, head to Target.
The mega-chain is now offering a thrifty, albeit terrific, handbag collection by the same. This fuchsia hobo, for instance, is $39.99. In stores until Sept. 14, and online at Target.com.
Birthing beautiful
Giving birth is many things, but pretty isn't one of them.
Boston fashion designer Daniela Corte has a partial fix: Her new hospital-friendly -- and photo-friendly -- gown. Made of organic cotton, with empire waist and four ties in back, it's called the Dar-a-luz, which translates as ''to give birth'' in Spanish.
In violet and steel blue for $98 at danielacorte.com.
Wear a cause
on your sleeve
October's breast cancer awareness month brings out all things pink and trite.
Here's one item, at least, that won't scream, ''Throw me out!'' on Oct. 31.
Salvatore Ferragamo stores are offering limited-edition bracelets crafted from Italian leather with gold buckle and rhinestones. Ten percent of the $235 price goes to the American-Italian Cancer Foundation, the largest provider of free mammograms to underserved women in the Greater New York area.
Available come October. Start saving now.
