Organizers of Apalachicola’s Forgotten Coast Paddle Jam have great aspirations as they attempt to break a Guinness World Record by “rafting up” more than 2,100 kayaks. The three-day festival opens Friday and includes paddle sports, music and food, but the main event occurs Saturday afternoon when everyone gets together to build the kayak raft. The current record was set in 2011, when 1,902 kayaks and canoes assembled on Fourth Lake in Inlet, N.Y.
