Beer: Miami Brewing Big Rod Coconut Ale
Style: Golden ale with coconut
Alcohol: 5.4 percent by volume
Price: About $9 for a six-pick of 12-ounce cans at Total Wine & More
Story: When Schnebly Winery in south Miami-Dade County branched out into beer a few years ago with its Miami Brewing Co., Big Rod Coconut Ale was an instant hit. Huge aromas of fresh and toasted coconut lead to similarly tropical flavors with an undercurrent of vanilla. Like a Mounds bar without the chocolate.
Pairing: Big Rod adds a layer of depth and a touch of sweetness to tart, acidic ceviche. Try it with a mixed ceviche from Doral Seafood, 9743 NW 41st St.
