Two tall ships, El Galeón and Nao Victoria, will be docked in St. Augustine’s historic district this month, marking the first time the two ships have docked in the same port in North America. The Nao Victoria, just over 85 feet long, is a replica of the first ship to circumnavigate the world, which was commanded by Ferdinand Magellan in the 16th century. El Galeón is a 170-foot replica of a 16th century galleon that was part of Spain’s West Indies fleet. Both ships will remain in St. Augustine through the end of January and will be open for public tours.
