Style at Home: Four of my favorite interior designers

I'm a sponge, soaking up the ideas and inspiration of all the talented interior designers I come across. Many of those are our customers, who share about their homes and how they have made them into havens. And there's my design staff, who constantly blows me away with their good eye and instincts. And, the designers who have achieved national prominence, transforming their own homes or others, their genius captured in books or glossy magazines. Today, I want to blog about four of those I love the most:

Could this new bathroom trend be the next claw-foot tub?

Looking in the mirror can be an important part of a daily routine. And while we can all agree that beauty begins from the inside out, we certainly don't mind any help we can get to look and feel our best on the regular. That's why we're always on the hunt for bathroom mirror ideas – you can consider it an investment in how you see yourself. For something you spend a healthy amount of time staring into every day (OK, sometimes unhealthy), you can afford to spend a little more time making sure you've chosen the perfect one. Confirmed: It's worth it, and you're worth it.

Yardsmart: How to make your own hallowed ground

When does a garden become hallowed ground? When we have created a space for spirituality or remembrance there. Traditionally called shrines, these amazing spiritual nooks in nature remind us that peace can be found in this chaotic world. You'll find shrines in the ruins of every ancient civilization, proving desire for expression is intrinsic to human nature.

9 fun things in Honolulu: Seattle Times food writer finds old favorites and new

This city isn't most travelers' postcard vision of Hawaiian paradise, with waves lapping at a tranquil beach and a bungalow surrounded by lush foliage in the background. The city looks startling flying in, a slew of tall buildings crowding around the harbor's azure waters. The tourism of Waikiki, Honolulu's famous beach district, centers on bland, high-rise resorts and the chain boutiques along Kalakaua Avenue.

Climate concerns fuel more travel to fragile corners of the world

Amid piles of dried chiles, straw baskets and ripe papaya, Jeevanti Chatuvina's wares – represented by her sister modeling a gold-studded red sari, dramatic eyeliner and a perfectly coiffed chignon – glamorized the weekly market found on the edge of a lagoon lush with mature mangroves about an hour's drive north of Colombo in Sri Lanka.

Inn-Escapable: California's Great Wolf Lodge

The Great Wolf Lodge is the country's largest family of indoor water park resorts, with 16 water park and lodge offerings spread across the U.S. The year-old Garden Grove, Calif., resort, located about three miles from Disneyland, is the chain's first California venture. You can certainly stay at the resort during your next Disney excursion, but keep in mind that Great Wolf is a giant amusement destination all on its own, so make sure you allow enough time to check out the resort's Northern Lights Arcade, Ten Paw Bowling Alley and Howly Wood XD Theater.
