The Thunder might not have been able to stop the Heat, but the rain might put a damper on celebrations this weekend.
The National Weather Service in Miami estimates a 60 to 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday with a 70 to 80 percent chance of storms on Saturday and 60 percent on Sunday. With a predicted rainfall of more than two to four inches, it’s going to be a wet weekend.
A low-pressure system forming off of the Yucatan peninsula is expected to head north into the Gulf area, with some fragments drifting eastward towards the Florida Keys and South Florida. There is a 70 percent chance of a tropical depression formation within the next 48 hours, the National Hurricane Center reports.
Weather models are split between wet and dry conditions early next week. Once a low-pressure system forms, weather analysts will have a better grasp on what’s to come for South Florida.
