WEST PALM BEACH — A 22-year-old West Palm Beach woman is in custody in connection to an April 23 shooting that left one man dead, police said today.
Teryleisha Erica Wright of West Palm Beach was arrested this afternoon and charged with the killing of Ryan Rutledge, West Palm Beach Police Capt. Maria Olsen said.
Wright was located in Fort Pierce and was taken into custody with the assistance of the US. Marshals service, Olsen said.
As Wright sat in the back of a patrol car this evening, she smiled at the cameras aimed in her direction.
"Y'all keep your heads up," Wright said.
The shooting happened early the morning of April 23 in the 900 block of Abraham Avenue, according to a police news release.
Witnesses told police the two argued before the shooting.
"It was an argument according to the witnesses, (we have) no other motive for her," Olsen said. "It happened on the street. As far as we know, they really didn't have a relationship beforehand."
Officers responding to the scene found Rutledge lying between buildings with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.
Wright was transported tonight from the West Palm Beach Police Department to be processed at the Palm Beach County Jail.
