A 7-year-old girl who was struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking with family members in North Lauderdale died Friday afternoon at Broward General Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Cathy Schwartz said.
Francesca Moise was walking with her mother, brother and sister along the 7300 block of Tam O'Shanter Boulevard on Wednesday evening when a car drove onto the grass and hit her, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Family members said a white-and-black vehicle, later described by investigators as an Acura Integra, sped away without stopping. Francesca suffered severe head injuries, which left her in a coma in critical condition.
Deputies later found the Integra abandoned near a Lauderhill warehouse, with damage consistent with striking a small child.
