A 39-year-old woman fell to her death early Monday morning from the top deck of Roxy's Pub in downtown West Palm Beach, shocking co-workers and leaving her two young children motherless.
Police say Jessica Harris, who lived west of Lantana, climbed over the railing at the popular Clematis Street nightspot's rooftop bar about 1:30 a.m., then called out to a nearby friend or friends before falling two stories.
A city spokesman did not say whether police believe the fall was accidental or intentional but said that detectives are still investigating.
According to witnesses, Harris said "something to the extent of, 'Look what I can do,'" before losing her balance and falling two stories to the pavement, city spokesman Chase Scott said.
Never miss a local story.
But a man who claimed to witness Harris' death told WPEC-Ch. 12 that it appeared that Harris jumped intentionally after arguing with another man at the bar.
Harris' death alarmed and saddened co-workers at Senior Helpers, a home health aide company that provides companions for elderly residents. She had been working as a home health aide at Senior Helpers for more than a year, said Michael Mohl, owner of the company's local franchise, and was adored by the seniors whom she assisted in their homes.
Harris was born in Massachusetts, grew up in Broward County and attended Coconut Creek High School, according to her profile on the Facebook social networking website.
