A woman was found dead inside a Pembroke Pines home Thursday night after an 11-hour SWAT standoff, according to police.
The incident happened on the 1100 block of Northwest 76th Terrace, where the woman had been holed up for most of the day.
"Throughout the whole time we were in communication with her, on and off," Sgt. Shianynksi Morales said.
Police would not identify the woman until relatives were notified and no official cause of death was given.
"Initially the call came out as a 'subject inside the house, barricaded, and who was suicidal,' " Morales said.
SWAT teams frequently respond to calls involving "barricaded subjects" and up to 20 officers could be involved, she said.
Police did not reveal what, if any, weapons were found inside the home.
