What began as an armed robbery Monday night in Miami Lakes ended with a man shot to death, Miami-Dade police said.
Police say sometime after 7 p.m., a man – possibly in his 40s – was arriving home when two men confronted him with a gun and demanded something. "Shortly after that the brother of this victim arrived, found his brother shot on the ground, and notified Miami-Dade Police as well as fire rescue," said Miami-Dade Police Spokesman Roy Rutland.
The shooting occurred in the area of 6401 Turkey Run Terrace near SR 826 & NW 67th Ave.
A neighbor said she heard a gunshot and saw the two men take off with a gold chain. She ran to help the victim whom she referred to as Enrique.
"The nurse side of me took over when I saw him go down, and I immediately ran to him, so I didn't see their faces anyway because they were already running by, so I just ran to Enrique, because there's nothing I can do to stop them, but I can try to help Enrique though," said the neighbor.
Police are looking for a green Nissan Pathfinder. Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
