A proposed class-action settlement may provide some restitution for former T-Mobile customers who incurred early-termination fees when they canceled their contracts.
If the settlement is approved, anyone who paid or was charged a flat-rate early-termination fee (generally $200) from July 1999 through February 19, 2009, may be entitled to some monetary or other benefits. They must, however, submit a claim form in order to receive any compensation.
T-Mobile now prorates early-termination fees based on how far along in a contract a customer is when canceling.
Claim forms are due by Aug. 23 and may be submitted or downloaded at www.etf-settlement.com. Those without Internet access can request a form by calling 800-589-1423.
