Flowery Branch, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Falcons activated defensive tackle Corey Peters from the physically unable to perform list on Monday.
Peters, who signed a one-year extension in March, returned to practice eight months after suffering an Achilles injury during a Week 16 loss to San Francisco last season.
The 26-year-old is expected to be ready for Atlanta's season opener against New Orleans but will be slowly implemented back with the defensive line, according to the team's official website.
Peters had 46 tackles and five sacks, both career highs, in 15 games last season. He has 120 tackles, nine sacks and one interception in 56 games since he was drafted in the third round by the Falcons in 2010.
