Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Brooklyn Nets announced Monday that rookie guard Markel Brown is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks after breaking the fourth metacarpal bone in his right hand.

Brown, the 44th overall pick of this year's NBA Draft, sustained the injury during a workout in Las Vegas. The Oklahoma State product is expected to be ready for the Nets' training camp, which opens on Sept. 26.

The 22-year-old averaged 10 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists for Brooklyn's entry in the Orlando Summer League.

Brown was acquired by the Nets from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for cash considerations following the 2014 draft.
