New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Real Salt Lake defender Chris Schuler was named the Player of the Week on Monday for Week 22 of the 2014 Major League Soccer season.

Schuler netted his first two goals of the season on Saturday as Real Salt Lake claimed a comfortable 3-0 victory over D.C. United at Rio Tinto Stadium.

He scored his first goal of the match after just 13 minutes. After the initial corner kick was cleared out of the box, a wayward cross found the feet of midfielder Javier Morales and his low ball into the six-yard box was redirected into the net by Schuler.

Schuler then completed his double in the 24th minute off another corner kick as Morales sent an out swinging ball into the box to Schuler, who rose above the defenders and headed the ball into the lower left corner of the box.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North America Soccer Reporters (NASR). The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
