Vancouver, BC ( - FC Dallas and Vancouver Whitecaps FC shared the spoils on Sunday as the Western Conference rivals played to a thrilling 2-2 draw at BC Place.

Darren Mattocks and newly-minted captain Pedro Morales found the back of the net for the Whitecaps, who managed a third consecutive draw in league play, while Michel and Blas Perez scored for FCD, which extended its unbeaten run to six matches.

Mattocks opened the scoring for the hosts after just 11 minutes when he ran in behind the Dallas defense to chase down a well-placed through ball from Gershon Koffie and the Jamaican international slid it past FCD goalkeeper Raul Fernandez with ease.

But FCD drew level in the 29th minute when Perez collected a loose ball in the penalty area following a header from Zach Loyd that rattled the crossbar. Perez smashed it home on the half-volley for his sixth goal of the season.

The visitors then took the lead six minutes before the break when Carlyle Mitchell was whistled for a handball in the box, resulting in a penalty kick which Michel dispatched with ease for the 2-1 lead at the break.

The home side was awarded a penalty of its own in the 53rd minute after FCD defender Moises Hernandez was called for a handball by referee Kevin Stott, who quickly pointed to the spot.

Morales stepped up and calmly ripped it into the bottom right corner of the net, leaving Fernandez with no chance for a save as the sides earned a point apiece.

The result sees FCD improve to 30 points, level with Colorado for third place in the West, while Vancouver jump into fifth place with 28 points.
