Raiders release Burnett

Alameda, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Raiders released linebacker Kevin Burnett on Friday.

Burnett, who sustained an ankle injury during the offseason, failed to receive medical clearance for training camp.

The 31-year-old Burnett started all 16 games for Oakland last season, recording 105 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks and an interception. Over his nine-year career with Oakland, Miami, San Diego and Dallas, Burnett has tallied 628 tackles, 20 sacks and five interceptions.
