Habs sign first-round pick Scherbak

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Montreal Canadiens signed 2014 first- round draft pick Nikita Scherbak to a three-year, entry-level contract on Monday.

The Habs selected the 18-year-old right winger 26th overall in last month's draft.

The Russian led the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League in goals (28), assists (50) and points (78) last season.
