New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Red Bull New York forward Thierry Henry was named the Player of the Week on Monday for Week 18 of the 2014 Major League Soccer season.
Henry had a hand in all four of New York's goals in a 4-1 triumph over the Columbus Crew on Saturday as he netted one goal and assisted on three others.
The Frenchman began his evening by assisting on a Bradley Wright-Phillips goal in the 17th minute to put New York in front.
Columbus leveled the match, but Henry netted his fourth goal of the campaign before halftime to restore his side's advantage when he scored on the rebound after Wright-Phillips twice tried to convert a cross from Lloyd Sam.
New York then put the game away after the break when Henry set up a goal for Sam in the 55th minute before Eric Alexander made it 4-1 in stoppage time after he tracked down a flicked pass from Henry.
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North America Soccer Reporters (NASR). The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
