Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Celtics have signed their 2014 first-round draft picks, Marcus Smart and James Young.
Smart was selected with the sixth overall pick in June. The Oklahoma State guard was a two-time All-Big 12 First-Team selection and finished his two-year collegiate career with 189 steals, the second-most in school history. He averaged 18.0 points with 4.8 assists last season.
Young, selected with the 17th overall choice, helped Kentucky finish as the NCAA Tournament runner-up this past spring. The 6-foot-6 swingman scored a team-high 20 points in the national championship game loss to Connecticut and was the second-leading scorer for the Wildcats last season with 14.3 points.
