San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Sharks re-signed veteran defenseman Scott Hannan to a one-year contract on Thursday.
Hannan, 35, played in 56 games for the Sharks last season, compiling three goals, nine assists and 55 penalty minutes.
"Scott is a high-character, veteran player who leads by example," said Sharks general manager Doug Wilson. "He understands and accepts his role based on the needs of our team and will be a great mentor for many of the younger players on our roster."
Selected by San Jose in the first round of the 1997 NHL Draft, Hannan has registered 36 goals and 174 assists in 997 career games with the Sharks, Colorado, Washington, Calgary and Nashville.
