Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Columbus Crew and FC Dallas played to a 0-0 draw at Crew Stadium on Sunday, one day after their original meeting was postponed.
The two sides were set to square off on Saturday night, but a fan was struck by lightning in the parking lot prior to kickoff, forcing the match to be moved to Sunday.
Both teams had great chances to score, especially in the second half, but neither was able to produce a goal to separate the sides.
The Crew have now drawn their last three matches in league play, while Dallas has secured five points from its three most recent contests.
Columbus goalkeeper Steve Clark nearly handed Dallas a goal in the 13th minute when his fumbled cross allowed Michel to have a clear shot at goal, only for the effort to be blocked on the goal line by Crew defender Michael Parkhurst.
Justin Meram went close with a curling shot for the hosts, and teammate Bernardo Anor just missed the net with a thunderous volley from the top of the box.
The best opportunity for either side came in the 52nd minute when Andres Escobar made a great run down the left wing and squared the ball to Tesho Akindele, who fired a shot off the post with an empty net staring him in the face.
Dallas substitute David Texeira saw his close-range header kept out by some nice reactions from Clark, while Columbus also had a chance to break the deadlock in the last 10 minutes when Jairo Arrieta fired wide from a great position after a scramble in front of goal.
