Belo Horizonte, Brazil (SportsNetwork.com) - Argentina forward Sergio Aguero will miss his side's round of 16 contest against Switzerland on Tuesday because of a thigh injury.
The Argentine federation confirmed the news on Thursday, saying that the Manchester City striker would be evaluated day by day, but that he would not be available for the game against the Swiss.
Aguero was forced off the field in Argentina's last match against Nigeria in the 38th minute of the 3-2 win, with a medical report stating that he had "a muscle problem in his left thigh."
The 26-year-old started all three of Argentina's games in the group stage, but he will take no part against Switzerland, with Argentina head coach Alejandro Sabella expected to use Ezequiel Lavezzi in place of Aguero.
