Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tennessee Titans announced Sunday that former running back Rodney Thomas died at the age of 41.
A third-round pick of the then-Houston Oilers in 1995, Thomas rushed for career highs of 947 yards and five touchdowns on 251 attempts in his rookie season. He never again regained that form, relegated to a backup with his highest total thereafter a 310-yard season in 1997, thanks to the Oilers taking Eddie George out of Ohio State in '96.
Over a seven-year pro career with the Oilers/Titans franchise and Atlanta, Thomas racked up 1,973 yards and 12 TDs in 103 appearances.
