Senate plans to start considering budget Tuesday

Senate will vote on more nominees Monday, then turn to budget deal

The Senate's 2013 end could be near.

The Senate has been tied up in fights over presidential nominations this week, and opponents had threatened to keep lawmakers in session through much of the weekend.

Instead, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, announced Friday morning, the two Senate votes on nominees around noon will be the last votes until Monday at 5:30 p.m.

On Monday, there will be other nomination votes. Among those considered then will be Jeh Johnson, nominated as Secretary of Homeland Security.

On Tuesday, the Senate could vote on limiting debate on the budget agreement. If debate is limited, a final vote could occur 30 hours later, presumably Wednesday. The House of Representatives passed the measure Thursday.

Senate votes on Janet Yellen, Federal Reserve Chairman nominee, could then occur later next week.
