Nonviolent crimes like drugs and public drinking accounted for the bulk of arrests in Miami Beach during Memorial Day Weekend.
Police on Tuesday released arrest totals for the latest Urban Beach Week, which ran from Thursday evening through Tuesday morning.
The weekend resulted in 414 arrests, up slightly from 373 arrests during last year's holiday.
Miami Beach police and assisting agencies filed 341 misdemeanor and 73 felony offenses. About 40 percent of the felony arrests were drug-related. Drugs, DUI and drinking in public accounted for about a third of the misdemeanor charges.
Calls to Miami Beach 911 were fewer than during recent Urban Beach Weeks.
"It has been a very successful Memorial Day on the public safety side," Miami Beach police Sgt. Bobby Hernandez said. "Our goal was to provide a safe and secure destination to our visitors and the least amount of disruption to our residents. We accomplished that this weekend."
