It was design love at first site. “Ten years ago, I met him while decorating my home and I fell in love with his aesthetic from the second he presented himself,” recalled Beth Geduld of her then-interior designer Michael Perez. At the time, Perez was employed by a highly regarded, local furnishings company and had been helping Geduld create a New-England-meets-The-Hamptons ambience in her 10,000-square-foot Golden Beach abode. “Michael helped me with every aspect of the house and, honestly, he’s the only person I would listen to. He has talent beyond anyone in this town,” she said. “One day, I told him, 'I’m going to be doing something, and you’re going to do it with me.”
That’s precisely what happened four months ago, when Geduld and Perez, as newly minted business partners, opened a showroom, the Renovation Room, nestled on Hallandale Beach Boulevard. Specializing in lighting, furniture, accessories and interior design services, the heart of the company is its down-to-earth and unassuming philosophy and it’s understated approach to luxury. “Let’s face it, decorating is intimidating! We make you feel at ease and are so not pretentious in that sense,” says Geduld, whose husband David also co-owns the business, acting as its chief financial officer.
The look, Perez says, is a timeless blend of modern and traditional. Replete with Italian porcelain floors, fourth generation-owned Belgian linens, and gray and white hues, the 6,000-square-foot space is also brimming with local artwork by the likes of Rita Motta, Tina Frey and Babette Herschberger, one-of-a-kind accessories, candles and more. There are exclusive private labels and oversized Assouline and Christian Dior coffee table books. And while the vibe inside is decidedly relaxed, don’t mistake it for anything less than meticulous. “We’re both obsessed with interior design and handpick every item here,” Geduld said. She and Perez, who are already working with clients from Miami to New York, invited Indulge into the showroom for a gorgeous peek.
