An investigation is underway after a man was shot to death in front of a Northwest Miami-Dade home.

The shooting happened early Wednesday morning at 579 NW 96th Street.

Police have released few details on the shooting, but did confirm the victim lived in that home.

Investigators believe the man was returning from work at about 2 a.m. when he was ambushed. The position of his black pick up truck in front of the home indicates the man was pulling into his driveway, got out to open the gate and was shot.

Multiple evidence markers on the ground show the gunman shot at the man many times.

Police said the man’s wife rushed outside after the shooting and found her husband bleeding to death on the ground. A dark colored vehicle was spotted heading eastbound on NW 96th Street after the shooting.

Investigators have not released a motive.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
