The Dolphins No. 2 personnel man, Brian Gaine, will interview with Jets for their vacant general manager job, according to several media outlets — including the NFL Network.

Gaine is the Dolphins’ assistant general manager, a promotion he earned last June. He works closely with Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland on the evaluation of players at the professional and collegiate levels, and Gaine oversees the team’s player personnel department.

Gaine has spent 15 years in the NFL, and like Ireland, has long ties to Bill Parcells. Gaine’s first personnel job came in 1999 as a member of the Jets’ college scouting department.

The Jets fired their previous general manager, Mike Tannenbaum, last week, and Gaine is one of at least three candidates to replace him.
