So the BCS National Championship on Monday, Jan. 7 between Alabama and Notre Dame in Miami Gardens did not live up to the hype. Have no fear South Florida, just one day later, WWE brings its brand of SmackDown to Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena, and with a Homecoming for The Rock, it is sure to exceed all hype.

WWE SmackDown tapes its television show, featuring The Rock, on Tuesday, Jan. 8 from the AAA. This is the first South Florida appearance by The Rock since WrestleMania 28 Week, highlighted by his WrestleMania 28 main event win over John Cena at Sun Life Stadium — ironically the same place that housed the BCS National Championship on Monday night.

WWE SmackDown with The Rock in Miami is Miz-See TV at its finest.

The Miz, one of WWE’s top superstars made the media rounds Tuesday morning in South Florida to help promote the evening show. Bell time 7 p.m.

Starring on MTV’s “The Real World,” The Miz parlayed that opportunity into an eventual WWE contract. He’s captured several titles, including the coveted WWE championship and main evented a WrestleMania, WWE’s version of the Super Bowl.

The Miz is the essence of sports and entertainment, WWE’s mantra. His aptitude in the ring and on the mic elevated him into top WWE superstar status. The Miz enjoys entertaining the masses — thousands to tens of thousands at arenas and millions around the world — with his arrogant style and daunting catch phrases like “Really?” and “I’m The Miz and I’m Awesome” to hosting Miz TV.

The Miz is also very active in promoting worthwhile causes for WWE, including Make-A-Wish, Tribute to the Troops and the Be a STAR anti-bullying program. Miz brought the crowd to its feet last year at John F. Kennedy Middle School during WrestleMania Week in Miami when he discussed being positive as part of Be a STAR event.

Recently, Mick Foley featured The Miz in his holiday children’s book “A Most Mizerable Christmas.” Miz felt honored the hardcore legend, former WWE champ and New York Time’s Best-Selling author chose him to be the foil. The book sends a positive message to kids which Miz professes.

The telecast fetaures a Homecoming for The Rock, a part-time South Florida resident and a University of Miami graduate who played football for the Hurricanes.

So it’s fitting, since SmackDown is The Rock’s show as the name of the program was derived from one of The Rock’s catch phrases.
