A woman who lingered for days with injuries suffered after the bus she was riding slammed into an overpass at Miami International Airport died on Monday.
Gliceria Emerida Garcia, 75, of West Miami-Dade, is the third person to die from the crash, according to Miami-Dade police.
She was one of more than 30 people on board a private bus Dec. 1 when the driver somehow ended up at the airport entrance.
Police said the Ramon Ferreiro, 47, drove past signs warning of the low clearance at the airport’s arrival concourse.
He smashed the 11-foot-tall bus into an overpass.
No charges have been filed.
After the crash, 31 people were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Passenger Serafin Castillo, 86, was dead at the scene and Francisco Urena, 56, died later that day at the hospital.
Also on Monday, Jackson spokeswoman Lidia Amoretti said two people remained in the hospital from the crash. Both were listed in good condition.
The morning of the accident, the rented bus was carrying members of a Jehovah’s Witness congregation from Sweetwater to the annual general assembly meeting in West Palm Beach.
