A car struck and killed a 48-year-old driver who ran into traffic on Interstate 595 early Sunday in Broward County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
An eastbound Ralph T. Herson had pulled over to the side of the interstate near State Road 7 after he got into “an altercation” with an unnamed passenger in his own car just before 5 a.m., FHP said.
On the side of the interstate, Herson and the passenger got out of the car and the fight continued.
At some point, Herson “attempted to run away” and ran onto the roadway, according to the FHP press release.
That’s when a 2012 Chrysler 300 driven by Mandy Horner, 29, of Huntington Beach, Calif., hit and killed Herson.
No one has been charged in the accident as traffic homicide detectives continue their investigation.
