This weekend only, Lennar is hosting a VIP Hard Hat Tour event at Napa at The Vineyards in Homestead. The event is for home buyers who want to be among the first to see the Next Gen – The Home Within a Home, the developer’s newest floor plan, which is a practical solution to multigenerational living, says a company spokesperson.

Prospective buyers are encouraged to take the whole family, enjoy refreshments and snacks, and get a VIP tour of the new Next Gen homes being built in the sought-after community, says the spokesperson. Home buyers in the market for a single-family home are also welcome to tour the single-family homes that are currently available.

According to a recent report from the U.S. Census Bureau, “The number of multigenerational households has increased by 60 percent since 1990.” The dramatic change in the American lifestyle is primarily due to two trends, says the spokesperson. First, baby boomers are living longer and are faced with deteriorating pensions, a failing Social Security system and increasing healthcare costs. Second, college debt and the amplified cost of living means that many children move back home after college, and stay for several years.

To satisfy the evolution in the American household, Lennar created the Next Gen – The Home Within a Home. The design, available at the Napa community, offers three distinct floor plans: one- or two-story homes with 2,217 to 3,038 air-conditioned square feet. The homes include a private suite with its own entrance, eat-in kitchenette with full-size refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave, bedroom, bathroom, laundry area and living room, starting from $242,990 up to $283,990.

Lennar’s Next Gen –The Home Within a Home is the ultimate solution for multigenerational living, says the spokesperson.

According to John Graham, co-author of Together Again, a book about multigenerational living and professor of Marketing and International Business at University of California Irvine, “We are seeing the nuclear family going back to the interdependence of the extended family. For the last 50 years the American ideal was the nuclear family living independently, but with the economic changes of recent decades that no longer is the solution of choice.” He added, “Multigenerational living is very customary in most countries. It is now becoming much more common in the U.S. I am happy to see progressive builders like Lennar addressing this change.”

There are many reasons buyers are drawn to the floor plan.

“We are seeing Next Gen home buyers that use the separate suite for telecommuting home offices, long-term guests, and even man-caves”, says Carlos Gonzalez, president of Lennar’s Southeast Florida division. “The response has been amazing, home buyers love the Next Gen – The Home Within a Home concept and this weekend only they can actually enjoy a VIP tour of the homes in progress,” he says.

Lennar was established in 1954 and is one of the nation’s leading homebuilders. The Miami-based home builder has built more than 800,000 homes in more than 50 cities coast to coast. Lennar’s popular “Everything’s Included” homes now include many more features and enhanced energy efficiency and technology, at no additional charge.

Lennar’s preferred lender and title companies offer specialized programs and services to Lennar home buyers.

Guests will be welcomed at Lennar’s Isles at Oasis and be personally escorted to the Napa community to tour the homes in progress. The Welcome Home Center for The Isles at Oasis is at SW 320th Street and 152nd Avenue in Homestead. For more information, call 305-230-1008 or visit lennar.com. Realtor participation is welcome.
