Redshirt junior corner Xavier Rhodes played for a year in high school with UM freshman phenom Duke Johnson. “He was a freshman and he skipped JV and went to varsity,” Rhodes said. “He and I switched out at running back.”

Rhodes was recruited out of Miami Norland and has become one of the premier cornerback prospects in the country. On Monday he told reporters his old high school teammate was talking a little trash through their high school coach.

“He [was] talking to trash to our high school coach, he called me and told me,” Rhodes said. “He was telling him like, ‘I’m gonna do Xav,’ so I was like, ‘Yep, well now I’m gonna have to [show] him.’ ”

After setting a career high for passing yards against Boston College, EJ Manuel was honored as ACC Offensive Back of the Week. Manuel was 27 for 34 for 439 yards and four touchdowns in FSU’s 51-7 win.
