Australian artist Konstantin Dimopoulos is headed to Gainesville next month to color the trees on the University of Florida campus a vibrant, ultramarine blue. Dimopoulos debuted the Blue Trees at the Vancouver Biennale in March 2011, and has been featured in Seattle, as well as parts of New Zealand and Australia to bring attention to the threat of deforestation. Dimopoulos uses an environmentally-safe colorant that naturally degrades. The UF trees should remain blue for almost a year before returning to their natural state.
