Ingrid Palomino expected a call Monday. She thought her employee was running late to work. The call never came.

On Tuesday, Palomino received a different call — from the mother of her recently hired worker Hector Tornado Miranda. She said her 18-year-old son was dead.

“We were shocked,” Palomino, a manager of Atlanta Bread Company, told El Nuevo Herald. “We were expecting a call from him. We thought he would be late.”

Miranda, of Doral, was one of two people found in a West Miami-Dade swamp on Monday.

On Thursday, police also identified the second body: Marcos Ernesto Pomares, 19.

The case has been ruled a “death investigation,” Miami-Dade police Maj. Nancy Perez said

Authorities suspect that the bodies may be linked to a missing persons case involving two teenagers. Police would not confirm any connection.

Records show Miranda was reported missing on the Saturday before his body was found.

Miranda’s mother Teresa Miranda and close relatives declined to comment on the case.

Miami Dade Police found the two bodies in a swamp near the 13300 block of Northwest 25th Street.

Perez said that delays in identifying the bodies are due to the deterioration of the remains in the hot, swampy area.

One body lay on dry brush; the other was across a road in about two feet of water.

Miami-Dade police spokesman Javier Baez said detectives are still investigating how the bodies got there, the cause of death and any connections to the case.
