JUNE 3, 1966

I still have the tag from Pan Am (the ones used on the outside of the luggage) its says June 3rd, 1966 Duana, Jose Marti Airport-Miami. My memories of the last few days in Cuba as well as the first few here are a bit hazy. I was 8 years old. I remember though being at the airport with my grandparents crying, and lots of people. The airline ride here (my first) the stewardess offered me a coke, I remember her blue outfit and a long thin hat she wore. Here I remember getting a box in the airport with a Spanish-English dictionary and other supplies, and standing in line on the side of the Freedom Tower waiting to get a box of food. We settled near the Orange Bowl and I went to Citrus Grove Elementary then to Miami High, Class of 1976.
