Don't miss:
"STORM OVER EVEREST" - In May 1996, mountain climber and filmmaker David Breashears was leading an IMAX crew up Mount Everest when a ferocious storm engulfed the mountain, trapping three exhausted climbing teams near the top of the world's highest peak. In this special edition of "Frontline," Breashears returns to Everest to reflect on the harrowing ordeal that resulted in the deaths of five climbers. The program combines spectacular original high-definition footage with dramatic recreations of the storm conditions to make for an incredible production. Several of Breashears' fellow climbers provide moving recollections, including Beck Weathers, who was left for dead twice. 9 p.m. Tuesday, PBS.
Other bets:
TONIGHT: Donny and Marie Osmond obviously need something to do. So they've been assigned to introduce us to "America's Favorite Mom." The winner will be decided by online voting, perhaps because a steel-cage brawl was considered less dignified. 7 p.m., NBC.
SUNDAY: Leave it to the irreverent "Simpsons" to kill off Homer's mom on Mother's Day. Yes, Mona Simpson (voiced by Glenn Close) unexpectedly passes away and Homer is riddled with guilt for having failed to reveal his true feelings for her. We're tearing up already. 8 p.m., Fox.
SUNDAY: "Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites," the 16th installment of the reality series, winds down with the customary two-hour finale and cast reunion. Here's our fearless prediction: There will be plenty of bickering at the tribal council and someone will win $1 million. 8 p.m., CBS.
MONDAY: The new-and-improved "American Gladiators" returns for a summer run and we promise no steroid jokes this time around. OK, maybe just a couple. 8 p.m., NBC.
MONDAY: Part 1 of a two-part season-finale of "House" brings more tribulations for our grouchy doctor. After being involved in a bus accident, he loses a chunk of his memory, which is unfortunate because he has a nagging feeling that a fellow passenger was exhibiting signs of a deadly illness. 9 p.m., Fox.
MONDAY: "Samantha Who?," the season's top rookie sitcom, airs its season finale and Sam is in a quandary. Her relationship with Todd is starting to heat up, but she wants to put it on ice until he breaks up with Chloe (Kiele Sanchez), as he has promised. 9:32 p.m., ABC.
WEDNESDAY: The season finale of "America's Top Model" has the three remaining contestants trying to rock a photo shoot for CoverGirl makeup. Here's our fearless predictions: Someone will be admonished by Tyra. Someone will cry. And someone will be getting a whole lot wealthier very soon. 8 p.m., The CW.
THURSDAY: We're not sure if we really need an entire hour of "My Name Is Earl," but that's what we've got in a super-sized season finale that finds Earl and Billie (Alyssa Milano) experiencing turbulence in their relationship. So he decides to stay away from home as much as possible. Like that will help. 8 p.m., NBC.
THURSDAY: It's also an hourlong season finale for "The Office" as Toby, the human resources guy, prepares to leave Dunder Mifflin - a prospect that thrills Michael to no end. Meanwhile, Dwight and Meredith haze the new HR woman, Holly (Amy Ryan). 9 p.m., NBC.
FRIDAY: In the season finale of "Moonlight," a murder investigation is launched after a vampire kills a human in the heat of passion. Which reminds us: Never ever let a vampire give you a hickey. 9 p.m., CBS.
SATURDAY: The long-running series, "America's Most Wanted," marks a major milestone tonight " the capturing of the 1,000th fugitive. "AMW" will highlight some of the amazing ways that viewers' tips helped take down dangerous criminals and offer a look at a new crop of bad guys. 9 p.m., Fox.
