ART PICK

Wynwood Arts District exhibits

fsantiago@MiamiHerald.com

The Wynwood Arts District -- the 's' was just added to the area's name -- continues to attract newcomers, some of them veterans of the South Florida art scene elsewhere. Now exhibiting:

• Southwest Miami-based Durban Segnini Gallery, which specializes in geometric abstraction from Latin America, is inaugurating a new space from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at 2145 NW Second Ave., with the exhibition Penetrable, an interactive installation by the late Venezuelan artist Jesús Soto, who died in Paris in 2005 at age 82. The work will remain on view until January; www.durbansegnini.com.

• In his first Wynwood show, artist Sebastián Spreng presents Handmade Horizons and Songs, a series of oil on canvas paintings that play with expanses of earth, water and sky and light and shadow and are inspired by the Argentine artist's love of music. The installation 4-Liederkeis Opus II, is made up of 45 tiny paintings that juxtapose color with monochromatic works and is titled after Robert Schumann compositions.

On view through June 30 at Kelley Roy Gallery, 50 NE 29th St.; 305-447-3888; open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, noon to 5 p.m. Saturday; www.kelleyroygallery.com.
