FIRST LOOK

Sea Rock aptly named

Sea Rock, 1400 20th St., Miami Beach; 877-323-5727.

Just down the street from South Beach's space-age Publix, Sea Rock is both a seafood joint and a lounge. The cavernous, ocean-inspired space with its wavy neon fixtures and white marble bar hosts live music on weekends and an all-night happy hour.

The rock 'n' roll-themed menu of ceviches, salads and cooked fish reflects the owners' Lebanese and Colombian heritages. Prices skew a bit high given the neighborhood vibe, with starters at $9-$15, sandwiches about $14 and mains $26.

Start with a ceviche like the Hendrix (king salmon, kiwi, coconut milk) or the Foo Fighters (corvina, olives, roasted garbanzo beans) or a Green Day salad (endive, radicchio, roasted apples, walnuts, Gorgonzola).

Mains include pan-seared salmon with creamy garlic sauce and seared scallops in champagne and vanilla sauce. Filet mignon and pistachio-crusted lamb chops with a citrus- and mint-spiked yogurt sauce are among the limited meat options.

Our take: Go for the innovative ceviches and chill atmosphere, stay for the live rock.
