Special events at Siam Palace, Flamingo Gardens, Sushisamba, Mariposa

Marc Buoniconti hosts 20th anniversary festivities Thursday evening at Siam Palace, 9999 Sunset Dr., Miami. Buoniconti, president of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, will join founder-owner Cynthia Halelamien in launching the restaurant's sushi bar. New specials include two-for-one beer and wine on Mondays, half-price Miami and California rolls on Tuesdays and $4 sake bombs on Wednesday. The American Institute of Wine & Food's South Florida Chapter and Flamingo Gardens are collaborating on the Flamingo Family Food Festival from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the gardens, 3750 S. Flamingo Rd., Davie. On tap: a culinary school barbecued-brisket cook-off, demos by Florida International University chef-instructor Mike Moran and music by the Whiskey River Band. Sushisamba dromo, 600 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a seven-course, $79 menu on Wednesday nights through November that includes such greatest hits as tuna tartar with osetra caviar and gold leaf and teriyaki-braised short rib with plantain, apple-smoked bacon and fig chutney; 305-673-5337.

Neiman Marcus' Mariposa restaurant at the Village of Merrick Park, 390 San Lorenzo Ave., Coral Gables, hosts Havana Nights from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday with an a la carte Latin seafood menu, mojitos, live music and a patio cigar lounge; 786-999-1018.
