Salsa Fiesta opening; Sushi Maki, Primo Pizza, Don Pan expand
Salsa Fiesta Urban Mexican Grill plans to open this week at 2929 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, boasting a fast-casual menu in a full-service setting. Tacos, burritos and fajitas are joined by salads, soups and Caribbean sides like tostones (twice-fried plantain slices). Sauces and dips are made fresh daily, according to an announcement, and whole wheat tortillas are available along with gluten-free and vegetarian options. Beverages included imported beers. Salsa Fiesta, which has its own parking lot, is open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily; 305-400-8390.
Sushi Maki, with locations in Coral Gables, South Miami and Palmetto Bay, is branching out with food-court outlets at Florida International University's main campus and the University of Miami. Each location has signature rolls -- FIU's a tuna-avocado combo, UM's salmon and avocado -- plus noodle bowls, other Asian bites and bubble tea; www.gosushimaki.com.
Primo Pizza, a New York-style pizzeria, has expanded from Miami Beach to Midtown Miami, 3451 N. First Ave., with lunch and dinner daily plus local delivery; 305-535-2555.
A Don Pan International Bakery kiosk has opened on the second level of The Shops at Sunset Place, 5701 Sunset Dr., South Miami.
