Mexican rock bands and reggaeton artists were big winners at Los Premios MTV in Los Angeles, hosted by Nelly Furtado . Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin and Yandel , nominated in six categories, won for best artist of the year and best video. `I want to thank Mexico, Puerto Rico and all the Latinos who support our music,' Wisin said, after rapper 50 Cent presented them. Others in attendance: Kelly Osbourne , Wilmer Valderrama , Tommy Lee , Snoop Dogg (with bulky bodyguards), Kelly Rowland, DJ David Guetta and Sofia Vergara.

Akon ready to party

Last time we caught up with hip-hop star Akon, he was in Miami recording songs for his new album, Stadium.

He calls the record, which is slated for an April or May release, ``high energy.''

``It's going to be big,'' he says. ``I'm on a whole other level right now. My life is bright, and you'll hear it on the album.''

Robin S discusses career

Fans of old-school dance music will certainly recognize the name Robin S, who scored an enduring hit in the mid-'90s with Show Me Love , worked with house legend Todd Terry and later added five No. 1 tracks on the Billboard dance charts. Children happily pitch in on David family charter boat

T he Key Biscayne charter boat L & H hit the mother lode last Thursday on a large, barnacle-studded tree trunk floating in about 400 feet of water off north Key Largo. With captain Jimmy David calling directions from the tower, everyone on deck was reeling in one schoolie dolphin after another.

A female guest was tussling with one of the schoolies and finally managed to bring it close to the stern. As she wondered whether to try to flip it into the boat or wait for a crew member to gaff it, David's 7-year-old daughter Laurel stepped up, leaned over the transom and gaffed the struggling fish. Mate Greg Braswell took the gaff from her and deposited the fish in the cooler. And everyone went back to catching fish like nothing unusual happened.

That was just one of many surprises during a bountiful, 12-hour fun-fishing day with the David family and its crew.
