COMING TO TOWN

Eva Longoria Parker is a helpful housewife

When it comes to good causes, Eva Longoria Parker is all business.

The Desperate Housewives star, 34, was just named Philanthropist of the Year by The Hollywood Reporter and she's spreading goodwill in Miami Beach Saturday for the Rally for Children With Cancer.

The Miami Herald caught up with the busy gal as she was in between takes on the set of her ABC show. We hoped we weren't interfering with her script memorization but she assured us, ``Nope, memory is a muscle.''

She'll surely need muscle this weekend -- doesn't look like there's much rest involved.

The Scavenger Cup fundraising rally kicks off Saturday morning at the Eden Roc, when Longoria drops the checkered flag.

All participating drivers -- who had to raise a minimum of $25,000 to qualify -- get a ``celebrity navigator'' to assist in various fun tasks. They could include doing karaoke at a recording studio, going jet-skiing at the beach or throwing balls at Land Shark Stadium.

The more money the regular folks raised, the more famous their celeb copilot.

Other bold faced names will be CSI: Miami stars Adam Rodriguez, Sofia Milos and Eva La Rue; Gilles Marini (Sex and the City); Vivica A. Fox, Bai Ling (Crank: High Voltage); Former World Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis; and supermodel Elsa Benitez.

``It's a really fun event,'' said Longoria Parker. ``Plus you're helping support families affected by childhood cancer.''

Longoria Parker hasn't had personal experience with the disease, but it's a cause close to her heart.

``It's devastating when any family has to go through the diagnosis of cancer,'' she said. ``But when it's a child, it's even more devastating.''
