LOCAL TALENT

`Dance' winner headed to Marlins game

Jeanine Mason, winner of So You Think You Can Dance, isn't slowing down. The Pinecrest native, 18, will be signing autographs for fans at the Super Saturday game from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at Gate H.

We caught up with Mason, who discussed the whirlwind that is her life, on a recent conference call.

How did it feel to win?

``It was the craziest night ever . . . I felt like I had just been bust out of my normal life and thrown onto some Hollywood red carpet.''

Were you surprised you won?

``I tried, before we got out there, to stay positive and convince myself that it was a possibility, but once you're standing there and that ominous, horrible music plays that will always haunt me . . . I just didn't think it could happen.''

Are you and [local finalist] Brandon Bryant OK with how things went down?

``Brandon and I have been friends for a real long time. I've known him for a couple years now, and he's such a nice guy on top of being one of the strongest dancers, which is obviously very evident in his muscles. Either way, it's a win for Miami.''

Besides finishing your studies, what are your plans?

``I've always done theater since middle school, but toward my junior year of high school I fell in love with film, and that's one of the main reasons that I applied to L.A. schools, and I decided I was moving out here because there's such an amazing, incredible film industry. So I hope to do films, and I would love to do movie musicals because it incorporates so much dancing.''

Any injuries from the show?

``I'm one of the few dancers that didn't have any tear or broken bone or sprain this season, but I did have a lot of bruises and cuts. I'm a little bit clumsy so I tend to fall a lot, and I actually have a really big scar on my right shin. I'm nursing that right now. It's closing up nicely. Other than that, it's just soreness.''

If you could dance with any celebrity, who would it be?

``I'm going to say Hank Azaria because he's hilarious. The guy's so funny. He probably has some great moves, and he's just such a character actor. Or Robert Pattinson, I wouldn't mind him, either.''
